SUMMERTIME

I recently attended a training seminar on speech writing. Believe it or not, it was actually quite interesting and informative.

During the seminar, the speaker handed out writing prompts, invited us to partner up with someone we’re familiar with, and spend one minute writing a short speech on behalf of your partner.

I partnered up with a friend who has a few older (like middle school-aged) kids. The topic I received was, “Summer is the best and worst of times. Why?” The following is my short speech on her behalf (which she loved, by the way).

Summer in Cedar City is a glorious time…the hot weather is made bare-able by the constant cool breeze, festival city USA, there are tons of things to do.

However, it is also awful because my kids are out of school. No more six-hour breaks during the day. No more being able to go more than 10 seconds without someone shouting, “Hey, mom!”

While I love summer and all it has to offer, I can’t wait for September when the kids go back to school.
