#LightTheWorld Day 11 – Jesus Ministered to Children
It is crazy to think that Christmas is only two weeks away. I am more excited for this Christmas than any other before. Not for the typical reasons of presents and partying, but because this is the first Christmas that my oldest daughter, Avery Sue, really knows what is going on. Her excitement for presents and Santa has totally spilled over onto us. These next two week will pass so fast for Summer and I, but the next 14 days will move slower than a turtle for Aves.
This Christmas season has certainly been enriching because of the “Light the World” initiative, but also because of the thought of those we’ve been able to serve. We’ve focused a lot of our effort on serving children because that is what Avery understands best.
- Like most days, my amazing wife spent 24 hours serving our children.
- Summer and I decided to each take our girls on a one-on-one date this week.
- We have been teaching our baby, Reese, who Jesus is.
- We have been trying to stop whatever we are doing and listen intently whenever Avery talks to us, which has been more difficult than we thought because our little girl loves to talk!
- We read Mark 10:13-16 as a family.
10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
13 ¶And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
