STUDY JOURNALS

Pick an object you will one day give to a grandchild. Explain why.

I am not someone who places great sentimental value in things. Sure, there are a few items that I cherish, but they are most valuable to me from a practical standpoint.

I also am not great at journaling or documenting my life; this blog is the closest  thing I keep to a journal. I know it is something I should do, but at the end of the day, it is just one more thing that I have to do.

If I had to choose something today that I look to hand down to my children and grandchildren, it would probably be my study journals. Not really journals, per se, but the organized notes I have taken from my time studying the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I filled two study journals while I was a full-time missionary in Portugal from December 2007-December 2009. Since then, I’ve been working on the same one… a testament of how much time I have studied since then. But in all seriousness, I greatly cherish my study journals.

I want my posterity to know that I am a follower of Christ. I want them to know how much I cherish the gospel and how much I desire all of my children and grandchildren to follow these teachings, as well. Since I do not keep a journal for anyone to read one day, they at least could read my study journal and learn about my relationship with my Heavenly Father.

Between my study journal and this blog, I think they’d get a pretty good idea of who I am and what I value most: My faith, my family, my basketball.
