2021 Round 1 Mock Draft – 1.0

Last night, the Detroit Pistons won the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery.

The Pistons, who are in a full rebuild, will presumably pick the long guard/wing from Oklahoma State, Cade Cunningham with the first pick. Cunningham should fit nicely with the young pieces that Detroit GM Troy Weaver accumulated in last year’s draft.

After Cunningham, there are five more guys in the top tier of talent in this draft: F/C Evan Mobley of USC, PG Jalen Suggs of Gonzaga, F Scottie Barnes of Florida State, and the two NBA G-League Ignite standouts, G Jalen Green and F Jonathan Kuminga.

Once the top six picks are off the board, there seems to be a mix of teams drafting for potential, fit, and immediate impact. This is a post-lottery mock constructed during game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, so expect changes as combine and workout reports come in.
