From trusted halls where labor’s bonds were tied,
A loyal servant, faithful and upright,
Betrayed by hands that once stood by my side,
My service rendered worthless in their sight.
In whispered secrets, trust I did bestow,
Now, falsehood’s venom poisons my soul,
A dagger’s thrust, my ego’s final blow,
My steadfast devotion they did cajole.
Though darkness falls, the dawn will surely break,
And in its light, the truth will be laid bare,
I’ll rise with strength, my wounded heart remake,
For in betrayal’s wake, I’ll find repair.
Forsaken, not defeated, I will stand,
For the future remains at my command.
