Saudades’ Bind

Upon my heart, saudades so deeply weigh,
A longing, like a melancholic tune,
For moments past, now distant as the day,
When life was sweet, beneath a silver moon.

In saudades’ grasp, I’m lost in vivid dream,
With wistful thoughts of friends and places dear,
The echoes of their laughter brightly beam,
Bring forth a bittersweet and silent tear.

Though time may pass, and distance intervene,
Saudades bind my soul to all that’s been lost,
A yearning, like a river’s constant stream,
In every heart, it pays a heavy cost.

So let me cherish saudades as a friend,
For in its ache, our fondest mem’ries blend.
